Can't open AVG Antivirus Free

I have a similar problem.
I had been using AVG AntiVirus FREE, but now see, between two parallel red lines:
"Your Internet Security trial has expired."
It wants me to buy.

I have Uninstalled AVG AVG AntiVirus FREE, Restarted computer, gone to avg.com/downloads and downloaded AVG AntiVirus FREE, installed it, and get the same thing.

I have done this a few times.
I have downloaded "avg_antivirus_free_setup.exe" and then "avg_antivirus_free_setup_offline.exe"
Each time I have Uninstalled and Restarted before Installing.
Each time, I end up with:
"Your Internet Security trial has expired."

I realize this is FREE, but I would like it to work.

Please advise.
Thank you,

You are most welcome.
The program name mentioned as "AVG" is the Zen interface that was introduced for AVG Unlimited devices product.
So, on Zen interface the program gets installed and the AVG Protection is the Internet Security program.
You have to uninstall the AVG Internet Security that is the Protection program from control panel first and only then you can uninstall the Zen interface which will be in the name as "AVG" on control panel.
If you install the AVG Protection free again http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe you will get the program name listed as "AVG" which is the Zen interface and the "AVG Protection" which is the Antivirus free.

Hi Diana,
It seems that you have installed the AVG Internet Security Trial version, The trial version time is expired and that is why you are getting the message.
To remove the expiry message please remove the AVG from your PC. To uninstall the AVG Trial version please follow the below steps.
Start->control panel->Programs(Uninstall Programs)->Select AVG Product and then Uninstall it.
Thank you.

Thanks for letting me know I needed to uninstall something.  It was still very confusing though, since my program list showed only "AVG" and AVG Protection" so I didn't know which one was the Internet Security trial.  I had to uninstall both and reintall Antivirus Free again. Also, why have a message like that with no way of knowing how to get rid of it?  I'm just letting AVG know that all the different components are confusing because the naming isn't consistent.  In any case, thank you for your suggestion, Sarath – the problem is fixed!

I haven't been able to open AVG Antivirus Free for days.  Every time I click on "Open" on the dashboard, I get a message saying "Your Internet Security Trial has expired" with a BUY NOW button.  It will not go away!  If I close the message, and try again, the same thing happens. How can I access the options menu on AVG Antivirus Free?  Or how can I refuse the offer to buy Internet Security Trial?   (I would like to attach a screen shot of this message but see no way to add it here.)

Vanessa,

I regret for the inconvenience caused. I'd request you to run AVG clear tool to remove the traces from previous installation completely and then try to install AVG Anti Virus Free.
Click on this link on how to download and run AVG Clear tool. Then click on this link for instructions to download and install AVG Anti Virus free.
