Can't re-start computer after AVG update installed

Hi Frank, sorry to know that. We saw this issue even before described solution was one of recommended ones. We were never able to find any connection to AVG and it occurred even to users without Solid State Drive. Thanks.

SUMMARY: Computer fails to start up (crashes before start-up).  I also have the free AVG Virus scanning product installed.

DETAILS:  I recently had my hard drive replaced with a Solid State hard drive.  My OS is Win 7 Pro on a Dell laptop of recent vintage  (Model Latitude E2250).  Ever since new drive has been installed, I have had several occasions when computer would not start-up.  Never had this issue before installing new hard drive.  I suspect there may be a software issue within AVG program(s) that make using a solid state HD problematic.  All other programs have and do operate OK (before and after change in HD).  For your info and help, I obtained work-around, from an IT expert, for recovery (see below) but think this is something you need to look into for underlying cause as more people use solid state HD computers.  I would appreciate your acknowledging this email and hopefully contacting me  for any additional info you may need to get to the cause of the occasional problem.  My email is:  ( Email address removed ) Thank you.
RECOVERY PROCEDURE FOR
NON-RECOGNITION OF SOLID STATE HARD DRIVE

1.         Boot
2.         F-12 before “Welcome” or any other screen
3.         Go to BIOS Set up
 a.        System Configuration
   i.       SATA Operation  (should be on AHCI)
   ii.      Switch to “ATA”
      1.   Hit “Apply” button then,
      2.       “Exit” button
iii.      Then, reverse change (re-select) on restart to “AHCI”

I would appreciate community's suggestions.
