We are sorry to hear that. Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe . This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.
Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No"
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer"

I need to remove AVG Protection program (which 565MB!), but the system is not allowing me to. I was instructed to use Install AVG on your PC, Mac | AVG installation files, but that's not recognizing the program. If I try through the Control Panel, not only won't the AVG Uninstall screen come-up, but the system it attempts to install it each time - or simply fails. Also, I am getting a pop-up error each time I close-down the computer - saying 'avguix.exe' cannot close…" This is labeled AVG Diagnostics. I need to clean these programs up and get back to where my computer and AVG anti-virus program were running smoothly. Thanks, Dan

Thanks. Will doing this leave me with the anti-virus program that I had previously - or will I have down reinstall that?
