Hello Gary,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. Could you please let us know the exact AVG program installed on your PC and could you please confirm whether you could find the file on the virus vault of the AVG program.
Thank you.
I just did a scan tonight and AVG removed a file that is not a "virus" (the file is from a trusted source and part of a proprietary program for automotive scanners) and when I tried to restore this one file, it failed saying "Restoring of some objects failed. Details can be found in the 'notifications' column." and the Notifications column only has a partially viewable message "Virus vault is no lo…" So, where is the file located so I can find it and restore it? The file's name was Driverscan.exe and is an important file to install the program to my scanner. Thank you!
OK, thanks. I guess that means the Virus Vault is corrupted or something because trying to restore the file results in that error message saying that it couldn't restore "some objects", essentially just that one file so I guess something's wrong. Anyway, I've since changed the options so that AVG will never delete anything without asking me first. I guess that file "appeared" to AVG as a virus or something even though it isn't (as I said, this is a trusted source and it's part of their installation program for my automotive scanner). Thanks anyway!
Yes, the version I'm using is 16.101.7752 of the Free version and Framework 1.123.2.37609 and Setup version 1.122.2.33780 and LinkScanner version 2982 (info from the "About" window). Where is the Virus Vault stored and can files be retrieved from it other than the AVG interface itself? Thank you!
You are welcome.
Yes, you have to untick the option as "Heal or remove the threat detected automatically" in the scanning option of AVG because some of the threats may be false positive.
We are glad that you have unticked the option not to remove the threat that is detected and ask your permission to remove the threat.
If you have any query related to any threat that is detected, please do contact us, we will be happy to help you.
