Can't retrieve email OR open AVG

Hello Peter,

Are you getting any error message from AVG when trying to retrieve the emails? Please repair AVG Internet security http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG from the control panel and then try to open AVG icon.

If you are able to open AVG, disable it temporarily (Right click on AVG in the system tray and turn off the protection) and check the status.

If you are getting any popup or error message, please do provide the screenshot [http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot] of it to assist further.

On my Windows XP with AVG Free, everything HAD BEEN working fine but not I cannot retrieve email with two accounts – gmail and compuserve.
ALSO, I cannot open AVG using the icon and/or start all programs.

What is recommended, please?

Ranjani,  something has changed.  Although the Repair request never responded or gave any indication, perhaps it worked.  Or otherwise, perhaps a second rebooting worked.  Or perhaps more time was needed for AVG to finish updating.

In any case, things seem to be back to normal now.

I am not getting any error message(s).

I cannot open AVG; thus, I cannot disable it by clicking on the AVG icon.  Right clicking on the icon, the options there don't respond.
