Hi Michael,
We're glad to help you with this. From the information provided, it seems that you've blocked MS Office programs to access the folders/files that are protected by Ransomware Shield.
You would have received a pop up from AVG seeking your permission either to allow or block those programs from accessing the protected files & you might have blocked them accidentally.
To ensure this, please follow these steps : Open AVG Internet Security - Menu - Settings - General - Blocked/Allowed apps - Check if Word, Excel are listed under Blocked apps - If listed hover the mouse on it & click on the X mark beside each program to remove them.
Please try the above step & let us know if it helps you.
Recently renewed AVG and when I go to save any documents in Excel or Word, message says they are read only, cannot be shared because of sharing violation, I operate Windows 7.
If I disable AVG it will save but I don't like doing that.
Not too PC savvy so any easy help would be appreciated
Thanks
We appreciate your efforts, Michael. Let us check the preferred mode of Ransomware protection : Open AVG - Menu - Settings - Full protection - Ransomware protection - Under preferred mode : check if it is set to smart.
If issue persists, we may need to identify the component that causes the issue.
Hi
Thanks for such a quick response. I did everything you said, but in the blocked app section there ids no X, just a circle with 3 dots in. I click on this and remove comes up which I click but nothing happens.
Regards
Thank you for the information.
In this case, open AVG Internet Security program interface.
Click on "privacy" and then click on open of "Sensitive Data Shield".
If it shows the protected folders option, do check for the Microsoft office folders and select the option to stop the protection.
Once it is done, try to access the Excel or Word file and inform the status here.
