Can't turn off Scan

Is anyone having problems with AVG Free  at all? I cannot turn off the scheduled scan from last night that didn't complete… I got up this morning to find it still going and stuck on 1% the rootkits. I tried to pause and stop and nothing. I went through the Task Manager to End Task and it still won't stop.

I have tried a Whole Computer Scan as well this morning and that too got stuck.

I am currently in the process of trying a Repair of AVG Protection through the Control Panel and that is slow in getting completed. So now the email scanner etc is being turned off.

Notes that I only really noticed problems like this after my Trial for AVG Pro expired… and I keep getting an annoying pop-up telling me the trial has expired and then it's asking me if I want to upgrade all the damn time.

Any suggestions?

Hello Kaylene,
The root cause of this issue is because of a conflict with Microsoft update. Permanent fix is expected by Microsoft through Windows Updates within Nov ’16. Thank you.

Yes!  I had the same problem.  It also interefered with browsing and email.  Now I'm having trouble uninstalling it.

Hi Balasubramanian
Thank you yes I did try a repair instead of uninstalling AVG Protection and have restarted the computer and performed a whole computer scan and it went all the way through unhindered and completed in a timely fashion.
Thanks I hope it continues to do this. But if does that 'stuck' thing again I shall repeat that process and hope for the best? Or is there a new upgrade coming with a fix for that bug?

Hello Wanda,

We are sorry to know that you are experiencing the same AVG scan issue.
Have you tried the repair installation of AVG as suggested in the previous post?
