Change Auto Decide to Allow - Question

Hello Gary,

I understand your concern.

When you change the firewall settings from Auto-Decide to allow, it will not conflict with any public wifi connections, this settings will only allow new installed programs to connect to internet from your computer.

When you change from public to private, the network profile will change to public when you connect to a public wifi connection. The settings you changed to private is only for your home network.

I'm running AVG Internet Security and I recently worked with AVG Technical support (remote). They asked me to do the following on all 3 of my computers that have AVG Internet Security. All 3 run WIN:

Open the AVG Internet Security installed in your computer and click on Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Change the application settings from "Auto Decide to "Allow". Once this is done, click on "Network Profile(Left side of the interface) and change the profile to "Private" if selected in "Public". Once this is done, please click on "System Rules" and enable the "Networking and Printer sharing" option.

Can anyone please tell me what this does or does not do? 1 of 3 computers is a laptop that travels and connects to various hotel, airport Wi-Fi's and I want to ensure the above settings will allow me to do so. Thanks.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I appreciate your insight.

You are most welcome, Gary. We appreciate your time and co-operation.
