Charging for online support?!

Hi There, 
I tried to chat with a support person after AVG Tune-Up automatically downloaded onto my labtop during an AVG computer scan. This was an unpromted download from my end; I had not given permission for it. When I started a chat with a tech support assistant, she forwarded me to a secure page prior to passing me on to the main tech support guy. The page was aksing for my credit card information; this was required prior to allowing me to access the tech support. I was going to be charged over $100 (should have taken a screen shot before closing the window!) to have my questions answered. This is ridiculous - if your product is causing me problems, I should not have to pay to have it resolved! Has anyone else encoutered this? And is there a way to have my concerns resolved without having my credit card charged? Thank you.
