Again I have to ask, is it possible to access the list of programs barred or allowed by the AVG firewall? It was possible in older versions and should surely be possble in this current version. If so, how is it done?

There is must of a difference between our old and new versions. All the features in the old version are completely retained. If not, please report this to our development team with this link http://www.avg.com/us-en/product-feedback so that they would make the necessary changes in the future releases.

I have the current version of AVG protection. With previous versions I could see lists of programs barred or allowed by the firewall. Cannot find a similar facility with the current version. I would like to know if this is still possible and if so, how?

Of course it is possible. The name of the icon for new version will be AVG Protection. So please check for it on your desktop to double click on it to open it. Then navigate as mentioned below to open the list you are mentioning.
Open AVG.
Click the Firewall tile, and then click Settings.
In the left menu click Applications to see the list.

I did assume that all the original facilities must be retained However, it is not obvious how to see the lists I mentioned above, (to me anyway), 
I'm obviously missing something and would like a push in the right direction.
