I'm using paid-for version of TuneUp. This is what happens when I open Chrome, no matter what website I try to open. DOn't know how to 'restore the changes made by AVG PC Tuneup'.
Thank you for the information.
It looks like the issue is actually with the Chrome browser.
Chrome usually crashes when there are too many add-ons installed to it.
In your case, it is necessary to reinstall Chrome and have default and limited add-ons installed to it.
You can refer the troubleshooting steps as mentioned in this forum: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/Ba1nP61aQxw and check whether it helps.
Thanks Balasubramanian,
I only had about 3 extensions running - would PC TuneUp have installed more?
Anyway it's running fine now I've scanned with Malwarebytes and removed RiskWare and PUPs
Steve,
Let's take a look into this. Are you using trial version of AVG PC Tuneup? Do you encounter any error message while trying to access Google chrome? If so, please share the screenshot of that error message to assist further. Also, please restore the changes made by AVG PC Tuneup as per the steps mentioned here and check the status.
Can anyone explain why Chrome won't work after installing and running PC TuneUP?
I have to use Edge to access the web, which proves my connection works, but nothing happens in Chrome.
Steve, Quote "Don't know how to 'restore the changes made by AVG PC Tuneup' "… As linked by Abirami Shanmugam (Avast) have a look @ this AVG article (http://avgclick.me/RevertPCTchanges).

It was from a pop-up that looked like a standard AVG notification

Hello,
While I was waiting I ran Malwarebytes and found quite a few instances of 'riskware' that I deleted and now Chrome works fine.
Chrome worked fine before I installed PC TuneUp so some of these must have come in the download direct from AVG - I suggest this is checked throughly.
AVG PC TuneUp will never install any add-on on your browser. It seems that some other application might have caused this issue.
We are happy that your computer is back to normal.
