This shouldn't' happen with AVG.
It is necessary for us to analyze the root cause.
Hence, install AVG program and if the issue persists, share the screenshot of data usage to assist further.

I am sorry to hear that. Please repair AVG Internet security http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG from the control panel, restart the PC and then check the status.
On mi imac the AVG AntiVirus starts the com.avg.proxy and uses about 90GB of Internet Date in one week. Whne i stopp the task it starts again. How can i stop this, it slows the hole internet some times.

Thank you for providing the screenshot.
"com.avg.proxy" is process for Webshield. Web Shield scans data that is transferred when you browse the internet in real-time to prevent malware, such as malicious scripts, from being downloaded and run on your Mac. All internet traffic goes though it if you have enabled the Web shield feature. You may recommend disabling Webshield to test it. Traffic for that process then should be much smaller.
