I have been with AVG for approx 10 yrs but over the last approx 14 months I have had nothing but problems with AVG Virus and AVG Tuneup mainly the Virus, where it asks you to restart the computer for an update etc and then when you do that it slows down then a day / couple of days later the screen seizes and on occasions won’t open.
I even paid for technical support for 12 months and ended up ringing them every month to sort the issue on some occasions 3-4 times a month. Lots of apologies and we will put you onto our best technician to fix it who would do so would work for a week or so and then back seized up or wouldn’t open again
Eventually in Feb at my renewal I told them I wouldn’t renew the AVG package unless it was sorted after 3-4 days of going back and forwards they assured me it was fixed and would be fine. I tested it over a couple of days and then was persuaded to get AVG Ultimate renewed for a further 12 months but refused to renew the technical support.
Lasted a month and then on Sat same again the AVG Virus program told me to restart the computer and started having problems opening it. This time dealt with their online free support who again had 2- 3 attempts to sort it. Again it’s worked for a couple of days and then the AVG Virus program came up saying I needed to restart the computer for update.
I did that and again it became slow closed down the computer and yet again following day computer screen seized and then when tried to restart it wouldn’t open.
I had enough and called them to cancel the subscription and request a refund for the remaining 11 months to be told I couldn’t because of 30 day refund period but following complaint they offered 50% of the fee which I initially accepted
However I then remembered that whilst I paid on the 6/2/20 the renewal did not take effect until the 18/2/20 and I had cancelled on the 13/3/20. As such the payment was to take effect from the18/2 as that’s when they started providing the service and I had cancelled within 30 days so I rang back to point this out
There response was they had taken the payment out on the 6/2 and had processed the £40. I pointed out yes but the service did not start until the 18/2 I had cancelled within 30 days of the start of the service and was therefore was entitled to the full refund as per there web site etc and all they had to do was just pay another payment of £39.99 and that would make a full refund.
There response was that was not possible.
Customer service is appalling a total rip off
