May I know if you started a deep virus scan or was it from "Scan computer" button on main interface? Please provide us with a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the pop up that you are receiving about the protected file. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
I'd also request you to keep the whole conversation in one thread to speed up resolution.
For the last couple months, I have been trying to do a full computer scan. However, either it doesn't and stops, or if I keep the computer on, it takes forever and does not completely scan. Also, I keep getting a popup stating that I have a private file that AVG is trying to open to scan and asks for a password. However, I do not have a protected file. How can I fix this? Is it possible that this is keeping me from doing a complete scan?
