Complete meltdown after update

Hi Olof.
We regret the inconvenience caused.
Is it AVG consuming the high CPU? Are you able to restart the PC? If you do, please do so and check the CPU usage.

Did the update as requested, got message my clock setup was wrong,  clicked fix this and all hell broke loose…

Cpu is on 100% usage, cant uninstall/repair,  cant even get out on the Internet to get the recommended program, cant even open the applikation…  I am simply said stick!

Is my only option here to do a reinstallment kg Windows??

Hi!

Yes, I was able to restart the PC, which I did multiple times without result, the CPU was going on full blast immediatelly. When I checked the Task Manager there was multiple instances of AVG programs that were running, at one time I saw 5 AVG Internet Security running, but also other like firewall, update and one that was called emergency update. Tried closing them down but they either didnt close or I got a message saying that that action was denied…

After several attempts tho I managed to get the uninstall/repair program working, got off an repair which didnt help. After another several attempts and in total 2.5 hrs of trying I got it uninstalled completely and I downloaded a new version, which for now atleast, seems to be working without any problems…

So I guess, if someone else get the same problem as me, keep trying to uninstall? Atleast until we get an offical fix?

Thanks for the reply tho!

Hi Olof,

Thank you for writing back.
Great to hear that the issue has been resolved.
I highly appreciate your effort and time in this.
Normally AVG will not take up most of the CPU usage and cause trouble.
Uninstalling the product shouldn't be the solution for it.
Keep us posted if you face this issue again.
