Component of Windows Live Mail 2011 removed by AVG

Thank you.

Thanks Balasubramanian

The current situation is that I wondered if I might find any options to restore Windows Live Mail via Control Panel. In Programs and Fearures I found a Repair option. I was a little dubious because Microsoft no longer offer it for download but, after a long wait, it made a repair. It hung at the end but has left me with something that works. Meanwhile there has been an update to AVG definitions.

I have taken a copy of the components from Program Files. I don't want to disable AVG protection, but if it decides to pounce again then I can take copious screen images and effect an easier repair.

Note that I am well aware of how to find items in quarantine. As stated in an earlier message, there is nothing in there dated since 2014, and nothing relating to Live Mail. I remain aghast that there is no apparent record of what AVG has done. It used to leave a very good audit trail with reports for past scans, what it had found, and action taken. Now there seems to be nothing.

Regards - Dave

I use AVG Free on my Windows 7 PC. Today, on starting Windows Live Mail, I received an AVG notification of a problem that it had "resolved", with a path name relating to C:\Program Files (x86).… live mail (sorry - I didn't record it - naively I expected to find details in an AVG log).
Now I find that I cannot reply to or forward any emails. Many thanks AVG! I am presented with a message "A problem occurred while trying to open this message. A problem has occurred. Please try again". The only option offered is OK which gives a further message "An error occurred trying to or forwarding this message".
Has anyone else had this problem?
Can anyone explain where to find any log of what AVG has done within its awful new interface?
…and hopefully provide any advice on how to regress whatever it has changed?
I have AVG software version 17.4.3014 and virus definition version 170603-0
I am running Windows 7 Professional and am up to date with Microsoft's changes.
Thanks - Dave
