Hi, I have the same problem. I followed the steps described by Abirami Shanmugam above "Please remove your AVG Free Antivirus completely as per the steps mentioned here . Then reinstall it by following the steps mentioned here ." but the problem still persists. The screen shot is as attached.
Has a fix already found to this? How can we fix this problem?
Well, I completely removed AVG from my computer. It was the version I downloaded today from AVG | İndirdiğiniz için teşekkürler. The number listed below the program in the add/remove programs page was 18.6.3066. Spend too much time on it. installed avast for now (also a program of your company) but didn't like it that much. (Some options do not seem flexible.) Therefore, would like to switch back or if the problem cannot be fixed may switch to caspersky.
Justin,
This isn’t expected behavior. We’ll work through fixing this together. Please remove your AVG Free Antivirus completely as per the steps mentioned here . Then reinstall it by following the steps mentioned here . If the issue persists, please share the screenshot of AVG window to assist further.
My AVG antivirus says my computer isn't protected, and the fix now button doesn't do anything. I've tried re-installing, cleaning, removing tool, and repairing but none of these have solved the problem.
Hi. I had the same problem and I managed to fix it but used the shorgun overkill approach. Upon bootup everything was fine but shortly thereafter I would lose the AVG computer protection. I tried many fixes but here is what worked: I checked services and discovered that the AVGantivrus service had stopped. I right clicked on it and selected "Start". It would not start and I got the infamous windows 10 pro Error 1067. I ran the registry editor, backed up the appropriate AVG key, deleted the key entries and exited the editor. Next I ran sfc/scannow from the cmd box in Admin mode. Many error were corrected once it got to 100%. I then clicked on the key backup file and selected Merge. It would only do a partial merge. The aforesaid was not enough to fix the problem. I then used Ccleaner to uninstall AVG, ran the AVG cleaner and removal tools and restarted my PC. I then used Ccleaner and used it to analyze my registry. Many problems showed up and I selected fix. Ran analyzed again but more to be fixed which I also fixed. I again used the reg. Editor to clear the AVG key and deleted all the AVG program folders as well as the AVG removal folder. Rebooted and used Ccleaner to again analyze and fix all registry issued (repeated until no more issues). I then downloaded the 64 bit paid version of AVG and installed it. It worked - no more problems for the past 2 days.
Yeah. Having the same problem.
That's great, John.
We appreciate your efforts.
Have a great day!
@Avinash. That worked! Thank you very much for the assistance
Hello,
I really appreciate your effort in trying to resolve this issue. Could you let me know the version of AVG Antivirus Free (open AVG protection > menu > about) installed on your computer?
Regards,
Alok.

Hi Stephen,
The steps followed by "Albert" was quite lengthy one, but we appreciated his efforts.
We follow basic troubleshooting like reinstalling the program using our remover tools which will mostly fix this issue.
If it fails, we proceed to collect log files and escalate to senior team for further assistance.
Abirami, if you feel that this lengthy and involved approach (Albert's) is appropriate to grasp at as your preferred way of dealing with this software problem, and that it absolves you of any need to spend further effort on it for Win10 or any other OS, then I beg to differ - it is a cheap and unimpressive response from Avast.
If AVG asserts at the top level 'Computer protection is turned off' while components (eg 'Computer' or 'Web and Email' are 'Protected' then your users need a reliable way of establishing which of these conflicting messages is true. A lot depends on it, and it is your responsibility as supplier not to be exhibiting false messages.
Expecting users to do registry hacks to keep software working is not what should be expected of a mass-market supplier. So, please apply your corporate mind to the problem a second time!
I am having the same problem.
Have AVG Antivirus free. Dashboard says Computer "Protected" and Web & Email "Protected".
Still says "Computer protection is turned off, FIX NOW"
Have clicked "Fix Now". Nothing changes. Have restarted computer, reinstalled, updated, all the basic stuff I should have to do.
The KEY thing I have found out is that clicking the FIX NOW button switches off Silent Mode in the Settings so presumeably AVGs money grabbing and unnecessary pop-ups can happen again. Does this mean that my computer is protected, but my dashboard says it isn't protected until I switch off Silent Mode and allow the barrage of pop-ups again?

Hello Liam,
We will help you sort it out. Let me know if you have run AVG Remover/AVG Clear tool to reinstall AVG Antivirus.
If not, I request you to remove AVG completely along with any previous traces using the AVG clear tool/AVG Remover tool and then do a fresh installation of AVG Antivirus Free. This will ensure that none of the previous traces of AVG are left on your computer and you have an updated version.
Please follow the instruction ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to run AVG Remover tool and AVG Clear tool.
After the computer reboots, you can follow the instruction to download/install AVG Antivirus Free.

Alok.
