Began the day with message 'AVG not able to recognise licence number' - but I had AVG Free installed. After trying to fix the problem via all the recommendations I had to use the AVG removal tool - windows was not able to uninstall. I then downloaded the latest version of AVG FREE and installed it. However, after installing I now get a message that the computer is Not Protected. I click on 'Fix Now' but nothing is fixed - computer remains 'Not Protected'. Please advise how to fix and have computer protected.

We regret for the inconvenience caused. Please check whether you have installed any other conflicting applications like McAfee, Avast etc… on your PC, If so please uninstall the conflicting applications.
If not, please click this link http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to download and run the AVG Remover tool.
1. Please select the AVG products which are shown in the remover tool window and then start removal process.
2. After the remover tool process is successfully finished, restart your computer.
3. After the restart, manually delete the AVG Remover folder in the C drive of My computer.
4. Once uninstalled download the installation file using the link : http://www.avg.com/download to reinstall your AVG program.

Followed the instructions but still no fix. The green bar for the progress of repair gets toabout 95% then stalls. During the repair process the AVG 'box' with the icons showing the areas of protection comes up with the Computer - Not Protected - message. Eventually, two messages come up. The first states 'a problem has occured during initilzation' followed by the code 0xC0070643. The second message states 'unknown issue prevents Internet Security from installing followed by the same error code 0xC0070643.
