Hello Peter,
I'm sorry to hear about this. There are some reasons which cause the computer slow down, less memory, two antivirus at the same time etc. In this case, I request you to open the Task manager and check which application/processes are taking high memory space. You can open Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, and then clicking Start Task Manager. After that, I request you to check if you're running two antiviruses on your computer (control panel > program and features). Regarding Economy mode notification, you might have turned on turbo mode in AVG MyAccount. I request you to open AVG PC TuneUp and click standard Mode.
Best regards,
Alok.
I've been an AVG IS "paid for" user for years and although I did some research before renewing to AVG IS 2017 in October I'm beginning to wonder. One of the reasons that I decided to stay with AVG IS was that I read it was "light" and therefore didn't slow the computer down so much. I know we've got increased internet vulnerability as of recent but my laptop is now so slow that I type and have to wait for it to catch up. I'm using Windows 10 and purchased AVG PC TuneUp at the same time but keep getting continuous notifications but more annoyingly is that every few minutes the Battery Economy notification comes up which dims the screen for a few seconds and then goes back to normal even though it's plugged in. I'm seriously considering buying a new laptop and a different internet security package.
