You can get them back by restoring them from the Virus Vault. Sorry, but I haven't used XP for seven years. Of course you could Google the filenames. It might be a good idea to scan any restored files at VirusTotal website.
I downloaded AVG free 2015 and ran an AVG scan which identified several threats and recommended that I remove or isolate them. Since then my computer has been running extremely slowly, timing out and takes a very long time to shut down. I think AVG has removed or isolated components of the operating system thinking they were viruses. I have deleted all my temporary files on the advice of AVG technical help but this has not improved the running of the computer.
Would anyone know how I can identify if any files removed from my AVG scan history are crucial files for the running of my computer and if so, how I can get them back? My opersating system is XP
