I followed the instructions.
I get a popup box that states: "The file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action.
I went into the Control Panel to see if I could fix or remove the software and then reinstallation it. I get a popup box that states: "An error occurred while trying to uninstall AVG Protection. The software may have already been uninstalled."
I haven't removed the AVG software and it is still on my computer.

AVG software states "Computer Update Required" Click on "Fix Now" button. I get a popup box that states "Update Completed" but the software still states that a "Computer Update Required." Is this a current bug with the updats? Should I assume everything is okay and it's just a bug?

The file might get corrupted and requires reinstallation. Please remove the traces of AVG using AVG Clear and Remover tool:
