Interestingly, while AVG was removed, the computer went to sleep fine.

I did a clean install of AVG 2015 Free on a Vista laptop. After install, the computer freezes when going to sleep. The monitor turns off, and nothing else happens. I have to remove power to turn it off. When I use the "Temporarly Disable Protection" feature, the computer will go to sleep fine. The only component in use is Anti-Virus. The rest are disabled.
What can I do to stop this annoying and potentially harmful problem?

Please run the AVG remover tool : http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to completely uninstall your previous installation of AVG program from your PC. Once uninstalled please follow the instructions on the article http://avgread.me/1cvJ6DX to reinstall your AVG program
