Hi Frank,
This is possible to set up. Just go to AVG >> F7 >> Applications >> Priority Application Rules. In the new window click on the Add and set the rule according to the screenshot:

For the remote address(es) use IP addresses of servers you want to allow.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Jan
Hello Jan,
At first this didn't work by applying rules to Priority Application Rules as you suggested. I thought the failure could be because when I first ran the mail server program some time ago I had allowed it unrestricted access on port 25 when prompted.
However, I was puzzled because I could not find the program in the Applications list to see if I could apply the firewall rules to it.
Eventually I decided to add the program anyway to the list anyway, and that was allowed and I could then modify it with tightly defined rules for SMTP and LAN permissions for POP3.
So all is working now - thank you.
The mystery is why I could not find the program in the list. I know it wsn't there already because I could add it (and I checked that I could not add the program twice). The only thing I can think of is that some time ago I think I moved the mail server program to a different drive and I wonder if AVG remembered the rules but applied them to all port 25 traffic even though the program was no longer known to AVG.
Kind regards and thanks again,
Frank

I have AVG Internet Security 2013
I need to configure the firewall to allow SMTP inbound from specific addresses and block all others. I cannot see how to do that.
