Sorry for the late reply folks. Covid has kept us all trying to keep our loved ones safe and secure these days :frowning:

Anyhow, I noticed the ‘detection.exe’ showed up in my ‘downloads’ folder, and I didn’t place it there and did not install it. I recall thinking it seemed odd that AVG antivirus didn’t pick it up. When I scanned it using AVG Antivrus, AVG says ‘looks good’. I did a scan on my drives and AVG did not pick anything up either. My machine is pretty fast anyhow, so I am not noticing anything unusual in terms of performance or other strange errors. Just a little paranoid about the file as I did not download it, and thought you may have some insight as to what the file was, and how it could have got there? Maybe the file isn’t a virus ? I dunno and couldn’t in good conscience trust it, so I shredded it in the meantime through AVG shredder just in case. Was reading some postings which says the file is a virus of some kind, but couldn’t really get clarification on the danger behind it.

Don’t want to push you guys too much as you are pretty busy on more important things  but if you had any insight on what could have happened and keep me secure about it, it would be appreciated

Big thanks as always for the support guys !

I understand that detection.exe could be a virus. I found it in my downloads folder, so i deleted it. How do I know if it has infected my machine or not?

Appreciate your efforts & technical knowledge, Kel.
Since, you've already removed the file & scanned using AVG, you can be rest assured that your computer is fully protected.
As we're uncertain about the exact file that was in downloads, we're not in a position to provide suggestions.
If issue recurs, feel free to report it to us. We're glad to look into it & help you. Thank you for reaching us. Have a great day. Stay safe!
