Hello Norman,
We are sorry to hear about your issue. Do you experience your PC rebooting automatically when AVG scan is in progress?
My operating system is win 10 64bit; I have 2 hard drives installed each has a current version of AVG Ultimate installed.
Scanning the system for viruses from the main (c) drive causes a windows stop as soon as AVG detects the first of several possible infections on this drive only.
A shell scan or a scan in safe mode finds nothing and if I boot from the second drive and run a complete scan AVG finds nothing.
I have tried uninstalling, rebooting etc from the normal c drive, re-installing AVG but the problem is still there. I have also run scannow to no avail - any suggestions

I have now uninstalled the most recent Win 10 Update and the problem is resolved, therefor I must agree with other posts that there seems to be a conflict between the current version of AVG and the latest win 10 update
Upon further troubleshooting it appears to occur on versions 2015.0.6201 or earlier. Version 16.111.7797 seems to work fine.
I have the same issue on (4) Win10 64bit PC's. This issue began following the recent Win10 updates. My temporary workaround is to disable scheduled scans.
Having uninstalled the September 30 Windows update, a scan showed no problems. Windows, of course have not admitted a problem, but the update again arrived last night (2nd Oct) and installed itself - a subsequent scan ran without a hitch
