Be sure that the problem isn't first with Word. Run Word and go to Tools and/or Help and look for a fix tool for Word. Word is really the headquarters of Microsoft Office. Fixes to Office are done through Word. Once Word is fixed, go back to AVG and update AVG. It might just work fine.
