Thanks for replying. I actually fixed the problem befroe I could back here. I actually went to components> enhanced firewall> network profile and switch from public to private setting. That worked.
I prefer to keep ransomware protection on.

I request you to follow the instruction (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection) to download/install/activate AVG Internet Security on your computer. After that, please go to Menu > settings > components > disable Ransomware Protection and check if  the Microsoft Office 2016 is working fine.

Recently I installed Office 2016. AVG Internet Security appears to have blocked Outlook functions. I removed AVG and problem went away. Is there a fix for AVG, since I want the protection
