Greetings,
We regret to inform you that further program updates for your AVG Antivirus Free (16.161.8048) is not compatible with the Windows Vista (Business) operating system.
However, you can keep updating the virus definitions of your AVG Antivirus Free.
We recommend that you update the operating system of your computer to either Windows 7 (Service pack 1)/Windows 8.1/Windows 10 & then install the latest version of the AVG Antivirus Free (21.2.3170).
Let us know if you have further queries.
AVG Free 16.161.8048) Windows Vista Business: last successful update 8 March 2021; Event History shows the following days update failed - same ever since…
Is there a fix - can manual updates be applied to this build?
Am unwilling to update to a current build due to previous problems on 3 Vista Premium laptops (user account logons failed) using a previous-to-current build - and am nervous about deleting AVG (using 'Clean') as the deletion (+ use of AVG's inbuilt 'repair) totally destroyed the ability to use one laptop…
Since I bought the s/h desktop 4/2019 (HP DX2400) AVG has always shown the build as out of date - but antivirus updating has never been a problem.
You requested Screenshots - but these can't be imported from a Computer - only a web-address - so what is your method to import them?!

Thanks for the prompt reply - which is that AVG have prevented Definition Updates since 9 March 2021 for this OS/Build.
"However, you can keep updating the virus definitions of your AVG Antivirus Free" - but does that mean that I can manually install them - or is that now forbidden for this build/OS.
The intention, now, is to Remove AVG - but wish to avoid damaging the system (had to use Safe Mode to create a 2nd User to be able to access My user account on 2 laptops after AVG wrecked the logons…).
So - do you recommend using 'Uninstall' from the Windows OS - or your 'Clean' - to avoid those problems?
