Thank you.
I am experiencing an annoying request for restart from AVG anti-virus. It also seems to be continually updating and takes over my network connection so that I cannot do anything else. I have re-started my system a dozen times over the past week and at least six times today. There is not much change. All of this started after the computer had been turned off for an extended period of time. So I missed some updates. That is why I put up with this for so long, but now it is pretty clear that AVG is in an update loop. Please advise of how this can be overcome, or I suppose I will just uninstall AVG.
Finally fixed – or at least it seems so. I used the control panel in Windows 10 to repair AVG. That seemed worth trying rather than uninstalling AVG and then reinstalling it in two steps. It took a while, but the IDENTITY module went from red to green when it was finished. However, I lost the definitions database in the process and had to download that again and it took a really long time. But the really ironic thing (to me) is that during all of this I did not have to restart the computer again. Go figure.
Anyway-- I suppose if the program stays stable I will forget about this drama soon.
Thanks for the help. I do appreciate it.
Thanks for the suggestion, but when I followed the ideas in the articles, nothing changed. The second article suggested simply re-installing AVG if the procedure of deleting the temporary update files didn't work. It didn't, so I suppose that will be the next step.
I will let you know what happens next.
