Hello Eddie,
We are sorry to know that. We suggest you to check if you are able to restart the computer in safe mode with networking http://avgclick.me/rebootintosafemode.
Thank you
My windows 10 computer will not startup due to a corrupt AVG file noted in the C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt log. It states the avgboota.sys file is corrupt. The path the SrtTrail.txt states the AVG file is in d:\windows\system32\drivers<br>
The only way I can start the computer is by disabling early launch anti-malware protection.
1. I have tried removing ( and/or renaming) the file, but the file cannot be found. Using the "dir" command in the directory says "file not found" I also tried viewing hidden files.
2. I have tried using your USB startup/boot tool to try and repair the computer, but it does not fix anything.
3. I have tried to remove AVG, but it states that it is not on the computer, but I still see AVG files all over the computer in various directories. I used both the system removal process, and the AVG removal tool.
4. I have tried to reinstall a fresh version of AVG, but I get "Action is not allowed…Currently used product does not support this installation. Please uninstall current product and start installation again" Error code: 0xe001f98d
5. I have no other anti-malware installed other than Windows Defender (I have turned this off and tried turning it on…no difference)
Please help me get my computer back, as I have spent 3 days trying to research and fix this.
No, I am not able to start the computer in safe mode. I states that my computer needs to be repaired. File: \windows\system32\DRIVERS\avgboota.sys
Error code: 0xc000000f
I am able to start up by disabling early launch anti-malware protection in the startup settings
I just tried using the AVG removal tool again and it appears to have worked. I am now able to start up normally.
Hello Eddie,
We are sorry for the delay in response and inconvenience caused.
Thank you for informing that your PC is working fine when AVG is uninstalled.
We request you to install the AVG Protection program again and check whether the issue appears again.
If you are using the AVG Protection free program then please use this link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Protection_Free_1606.exe to download the installation file.
Eddie,
We suggest you to try removing the AVG files and folder manually from your PC and then check if you could boot your PC fine.
