Cyber Capture Unacceptabel Behaviour

Hello,
Please be informed that CyberCapture is a feature of AVG. It detects and analyzes rare, suspicious files. If a we attempts to run such a file, CyberCapture locks the file from PC and sends it to the Threat Labs where it's analyzed in a safe, virtual environment. The customer is notified when the analysis is complete.
Currently, CyberCapture triggers when we runs or downloads suspicious files from the Internet that CyberCapture has not previously encountered.
CyberCapture is able to handle large files, but it may take longer to deliver such files to the Threat Labs. All files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, which means that data is inaccessible to hackers.
This is not a bug and it is a normal behavior and it doesn't harm your computer.
Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you

I also bumped into this annoying behavior, and ended up disabling CyberCapture.  My conclusion was that for someone who is building a lot of programs that are installed and run on the machine, this behavior is unacceptable as the default, both due to the delays and to the fact that the application is restarted after scanning.  That's because someone who builds a lot of their programs will end up having many programs that AVG considers "unusual" and scans them, sometimes repeatedly (i.e. more than once in a session).

I had a similar problem with CyberCapture and AVG in generall. It was scanning each of my Code::Blocks builds. It was killing OpenCV camera capture program that I'm working on. Even after disabling most components and after many restarts and reinstalls the problem was still appearing. (At first my program was running only about 30% of the time - quite annoying. I'm not sure what I did but at the end it was running only when the AVG scan was being conducted. So for about ten seconds it worked and then it went black.) Fortunately it stopped after I uninstalled AVG completely.

I am having HUGE issues with this feature.  First of all, why is it enabled by default?  Second, why is it having to scan files that are digitally signed with a valid code signing certificate?  It should not matter if the file is 5 years old or 5 seconds old.  That is the whole point of having a code signing certificate in the first place.  PLEASE update this so it bypasses this stupid check by simply verifying the code signing certificate!

Hello John,
what Bhuvaneswari fails to mention is that after analysis is complete, they kill your application and restart it.  Just hope it wasn't doing anything too critical.

I'd like to report a problem with CyberCapture, today I ran a monthly console based batch program. As it ran I noticed and AVG Cybercapture Tab appeared on the dos window and the 15 second scan took place, and then the Tab disappeared.  When I looked at the logs of my program I would normally expect to see something like:

Process Started
Step1
Step2
Step3
Step4
Step5
Process Completed

However what I saw was :

Process Started
Step1
Step2
Process Started
Step1
Step2
Step3
Step4
Step5
Process Completed

What you software has done is decide to scan my executable as its running, decided its ok…and then decided it was perfectly ok for it to kill and re-start it !!!  This is a completely unacceptable action for you to take!

When I re-ran the program it performed as expected. But I was able to re-produce the problem by renaming the executable.  Please tell me this is a bug and not expected behaviour.

Hello John,

I certainly understand your concern. The CyberCapture feature is use to detect and analyze rare, suspicious files. If you attempt to run such a file, CyberCapture locks the file from your PC and sends it to the AVG Threat Labs where it's analyzed in a safe, virtual environment. You are notified when the analysis is complete. This option is enabled by default.

We recommend to keep the default settings enabled unless you are aware of the potential risks. In case, if you want to disable the option, you can open AVG ▸ Menu ▸ Settings ▸ General  ▸ under "Manage main settings" and disable it.

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Hello Ni,
We apologize for the inconvenience. You can disable the Cybercapture from the below location of AVG Internet Security.
Open AVG Internet Security-> Menu-> Settings-> General-> From here you can see "Enable Cyber Capture" checked, please uncheck the same to disable this feature.
Thank you

Someone above says you can disable CyberCapture. Can anyone tell me how to do that. This cyber capture thing has only just started happening to me I presume it is an update. I need to stop it as it is wrecking all my macros in Excel
