Dashboard prob. requesting Update of Application

Could you check the current version of AVG program installed on your PC?
Open AVG, click Menu -> About to see the version number.

Hello,
On my laptop, AVG Internet Security dashboard says 'Important Update Needed' and requests update of Application......... so I go through the procedure to update the Application.  It appears to update (says it does) but when I come back to the AVG dashboard, after the usual requested Restart, it again says I need to update.
Ive tried to Repair but same problem remains.
Noticed a couple of other posts with same issue............. is it something you are aware of already?
Please note, if  the issue can only be solved with Uninstall and Reinstall, I will need Remote assistance for you to do that for me please.
