I am writing to report an issue of AVG Protection / Internet Security preventing Microsoft Word to save on FAT32 drives.
With AVG AntiVirus Resident Shield enabled, Word may display an error message of "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error" when users attempt to save to a FAT32 drive. This can lead to data loss as the original file will be gone after Word fails to save, leaving only (hidden) temporary files in the directory. Same issue has happened a number of times to Avast Antivirus, as reported at https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=96353.
I am using a paid version of AVG Internet Security v16.111.7797. The issue does not occur when AVG is disabled or when saving to NTFS drives.
Oscar,
Thank you for trying it out. Could you let us know which version of Windows OS are you using and it is a external hard disk you are referring to as a Fat 32 drive?

No one has answered my question on whether AVG has tried to reproduce the issue in its lab. I cannot trust a company that attempts to help customers the same way as scammers do.
Please escalate the case as-is. If there is any other information needed, please tell me and I will try to provide. Failing this, my next step will be to request a refund.
Hello Oscar,

Thank you for following up. I am using Windows XP SP3, though I suspect that the issue may be reproducible in newer versions of Windows, too. I am using internal hard disks.
