Data safe has been removed

I wonder why suddenly everyone in Big tech is stopping the saving of password files. Could it be because of lawyers? Its a shaame wwhen you get intimadated by legal people.

Hi Thanks for everybodys help problem sorted

Hi Alan,
I am missing the data safe also. I updated my internet security to v 180.4.3056 yesterday. And now I cannot open the data safe (vault) I have created. Even under the privacy tab.

Please help

Kind regards,
Chi

I have exactly the same problem but can't even get a message to the Support Team - or have no indication on the website that my message has been sent.

Can the necessary instructions for installing v18.3 be published here, please?

I have also lost access to all the data in my Data Safe. What do I do?

Hello support team,
I'm experiencing the same problem. 18.4 wiped out my data safe and the 'review your files' option is not there. Please send me instructions to back down to 18.3 to retrieve my safe.

You guys should be horribly ashamed of yourselves and send all of us credit for our subscriptions at the very least.

How can i get my safe back i created the safe on an external drive and have reinstalled 18.3 from your link and i have created a new safe on a flash drive so what is the next step?

Yeah, removing the Data Safes is a joke and a majpr pain in my ass. It was the one thing that differentiated AVG from the others. I have specific files and drives that I want to encrypt and protect. Blocking apps is zero help in that regard. Thanks AVG for removing a valuable tool without so much as a notification email prior to doing it or a reduction in my fees. What you provided in it's place is WORTHLESS.

I to DID NOT have the option to retrive my old data safe, the only option is to open it and scan for new files
I do not understand why it has been totally removed, the data safe was perfectly adequate for my needs, and dont like the replacement
I have system restored back to the old version, and working fine again
I WILL NOT be upgrading until we have the option to keep it
If not, I will also NOT be renewing my subsciption after it has run out, just another F- up, and getting fed up with up it all

It seems this problem is wide spread, I have the exact same issue and cannot access my data safe since the update without any warning. I have important files in the data safe that I required this week and as a consequence for using AVG i could not access them which has now resulted in valubale time and money lost because I could not access them, and still cannot access them half the features in the new update did not work nd has taken me the best part of two days getting it up and running. god knows how long it will be before I can access my files in the data safe from the previous version. AVG should be asshamed causing all this much trouble and no doubt just to make more money!!!

Karthikeyan,
Thank you for sending the email. Actually, two of them. One saying I should contact AVG again and the other that I should uninstall 18.4 and reinstall 18.3. Reinstalling 18.3 is okay but it does not completely resolve the issue. When 18.3 is installed it wil have Data Safe but it will not know that the end-user ever had a data safe set up. The only option will be to "Create a New Safe." User must:
1) Create a new empty safe
2) Rename the new empty safe to something else in Windows.
3) Find the old data safe and rename it to the name used to create the new data safe.
4) Reboot and open the "new" date safe (which is really your old data safe).
So, after nine days we returned to what I suggested at the outset. The very worst part of this is you were informed of this and kept rolling out the 18.4 version - knowing Data Safes would be lost. The virus protection became the virus. If there's a funny part it's that after updating to 18.4 after retrieving data safe the result is this:
Now neither are installed!
This is not really bothersome to me since I will not be using Data Safe or the replacement feature. I will not be renewing my subscriptions to AVG, either. The error in not properly testing the new feature before a major rollout was huge. Not reacting to stop it once the issue was reported is unforgiveable.

Hello Mat,

Data Safe is removed with the latest version but you should be able to see "Sensitive data shield" under Privacy component.
Keep us informed about the status.

AVG has been update and the data safe has been replace with (sensitive data shield) and i can no longer access my data

Success! "Ganesh" did the whole thing for me remotely - many thanks to him.

I do not recall being informed that v18.4 would permanently close my Data Safe and that I should remove my files before updating from v18.3. Did I miss the warning or was it not given? I think the latter.

OK Karl, No probs… Pleased to see that you appear to be now sorted. Thanks for returning to the Community again & posting.

Hello Balasubramanian,

unfortunately there is nothing about Data Safe when in click on privacy or sensitive data shield. I've tried to repair and reinstall avg, didn't help.
