I understand your concern.
Have you disabled AVG Protection temporarily on your computer and checked if you are able to hear sound on your computer.
If not, please follow the below steps to disable AVG temporarily.
To disable AVG temporarily, please right click on the AVG icon present at the bottom right corner of your desktop(System Tray) and you can see a scroll bar to "Disable Protection". Please click on the same to disable AVG Protection and check if you are able to access this sound.

As I indicated I had unistalled Breakaway as a temporary measure rather than disabling protection.
When time permitted I reinstalled Breakaway. The "debugger loaded…please unload" then popped up again during windows startup, and again giving no indication what program was causing the clash. I now presume audio drivers loading.
Temporarily disabling protection did indeed eliminate the problem.
Guided by other articles I found on the internet, I added the 'Breakaway Program' folder to the Behaviour Shield exclusions, and this appears to have solved my problem.I have no error message on Windows (10) startup and no other 'funnies' so far. Fingers crossed I should soon have the confidence to purchase the full program.

Since loading AVG Antivirus Free I have lost sound on my pc. I have long used Breakaway Audio Enhancer, but have had to uninstall it to restore sound. How can I resolve this issue?
