I am having the same problem (Mac - 10.14.6) - I have just uninstalled and reinstalled but the scan is still getting to about 25% and then it resets to zero.

This isn't the experience we want you to have.
As this isn't the usual behavior of AVG program, please uninstall it & reinstall to ensure that all services are running fine on your MAC.
I've had this exact experience except mine resets at 4% doing a normal scan over and over again. It's been doing this for hours. Hopeless
I think it's time for a new antivirus software app as it doesn't look like avg wants to fix their software does as this issue is still isn't fixed for over 3 months!
Concerned ur not maintaining your software.
I just installed AVG Antivirus under Mac OS 10.15.4 and ran a system-wide "Deep Scan." It reached 98% or so, and at some point restarted at 0%. It continued to do this for several hours, restarting over and over. Sometimes it wouldn't reach anywhere near 100% before restarting, but other times it would be apparently just about to finish… only to restart and claim it had never been run.
Worthless product.

I am running free AVG on a mac (10.14.6). I have uninstalled and reinstalled but the scan only ever gets to about 25% before it resets to zero (or I look at another window and when I return to the AVG one, it resets).
