Tony, I understand the situation.
Let me clarify the steps for you.
Open finder in Mac - go to folder and enter the path of threat detected file.
For example: Spotlight-V100>Store-V2> (Instead of arrow mark, please enter as "Slash") on "go to folder" field.
Once you have the specified path, check whether the threat detected file is present.
If yes, please delete it manually.
Follow the same for all threat detected files.
Initiate the scan after deletion process.
Keep us informed about the status.
Tony,
That’s certainly not how we want your AVG to work and I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. I went through the case history and saw that senior team has suggested few steps to resolve this issue.
Related to Spotlight-V100 detection:
Please be informed that the detected files are some Spotlight index files.
It can be ignored or fixed by reindexing.
Reindex can be done by following this article and then run scan again.
Related to private/ detection:
It seems that detected files has already been deleted during scan and it may be just some temporary log files of some applications or the files have some write protection and it is a reason why it cannot be secured.
Please run scan again and see if detection persist.
If the detection persists again, please try to locate the files manually. Path can be seen in detection dialogue. Just instead of arrow is slash
Example: private/var/db…
Please open finder and enter the path and see if the file is present then he can try to delete it manually.
Keep us informed about the status to escalate accordingly.
Deep scan reports 8 threats, but then cannot clean or quarantine them. 8 paths are shown. Looks like 3 are worms, 3 are PUP, one is adware and one is a trojan. I know how this started - I clicked on a fake flashplayer update/upload. Browser was hijacked and adware was popping up. I purchased through the app store a third party (Komros) that was supposed eradicate what I brought it. It did seem to work - browser now un-hijacked, no adware pop ups. However, AVG Deep scan still shows these 8 threats it can't get rid of, so I am concerned this mac is still compromised. AVG support has been no help and very frustrating to try and work with. ANY EXPERTS OUT THERE KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT?

I don't know what this means. Where do I find them and what are they called?
