Deep Scan stuck at 27% for over an hour

Same here.  Stuck at 27% on my Dell laptop using the free antivirusUser-added image.  
Windows 10 Home edition 64
12 GB RAM
i7-6500U @ 2.5
808 GB free on the 918 GB hard drive.

Let me help you with this. Does the scan stuck while scanning any particular file? If so, please share the screenshot of that scan window to assist further.

I am running a deep scan and it has been stuck on 27% for over an hour - any suggestions how to overcome this.
Windows 10 64 bit,
Intel i7 -6500 @ 2.50
8.00 GB ram
1 TB hard drive 25% full

Chris, you are experiencing the issue with Avast Antivirus free.
Hence, request you to contact them through this https://support.avast.com/ link.

May I know the AVG program you're using (AVG Antivirus Free/AVG Internet Security) on your computer? If possible, please share a screenshot of the page (scan status 27%) to proceed further.
