Deep Scan stuck/looping

I was a bit desperate to have ads popping up so I installed Malwarebytes to see if the adware was also screwing up AVG and it did remove the virus. I ran a Deep Scan again later on AVG and this time it finished.

Either way, thanks for the assistance!

Hi John,

I understand the situation. Don’t worry I'll help you with your issue.
I suggest you Reset your Browsers and check if you're still getting the Pop-Ups. Also, please run a Boot Time Scan and check for any Threats or infections and remove them.

If the issue persists, please provide me a screenshot of the Pop-Ups and also the scan bar message. Click Here for the steps to create a screenshot. You can post the screenshot here on your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Alright, I'll begin saying that I have an adware virus from installing a torrent program (which I already uninstalled because I didn't like it either way). So on Firefox I keep getting pop-ups to ads and other obnoxious links.
I ran AVG to see if it could get rid of it, but normal scan says everything's fine. Then when I run Deep Scan, the progress bar is always at 5%. It does seem to scan despite that, but later it gets stuck on "SVC" and I've noticed it just keeps looping on these:

SVC: WinRM > C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe
SVC: WwanSvc > C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe
SVC: WpnUserService_505b7 > C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe
SVC: WIMMount > C:\Windows\system32\drivers\wimmount.sys
SVC: WmiApRpl > ???
SVC: WdNisSvc > C:\Program Fil…s\Windows Defender\NisSrv.exe

That is exactly how they appear below the progress bar. I have the free AVG version, so then I used the 30-day trial to see if anything changed, but it stays the same.

Please help me resolve this and get rid of that annoying virus.

We are happy to hear that your issue is resolved. We appreciate your time and co-operation.
