Deep Scan vs Boot Time Scan

Hello David,

We are glad to clarify your request. Deep scan is predefined. In-depth scan of your system that checks your storage drives and memory for malware (including rootkits).

Boot-Time Scan scans your PC during the next system startup before any malware is launched. Running a Boot-Time Scan during startup improves the chances of detecting and removing malware before it can attack your PC.

As the scan result of both scan does not show any infected files, you can confirm that the device is completely protected by AVG Internet Security. If you still have doubt, you can initiate deep scan once again and check the status. If you have any clarification, please do let us know. Thank you.

I usually run the deep scan when logging out and the boot time scan when turning on the computer and logging back in. The results data are always comparable and zero infected files always show for both types of scans..

Recently, the results data differs and the deep scan shows the exclamation ! warning symbol with the message 'No threats found but we were unable to scan some files'. The deep scan data still shows zero infected files and approximately the same number of folders scanned. However the number of files and the gigabytes of data scanned are approximately double that of boot time scan and the time used for the deep scan is now always about 20% less. For example:14 minutes for deep scan vs 18 minutes for the boot time scan.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all my AVG  programs and that does not help.

Should I be concerned?

Thank you.

David
