Hello Tony,
Thank you for reaching us with your concerns. May I know if the issue is resolved when AVG protection is disabled? Right click on AVG system tray icon and toggle the On/Off slider to disable AVG protection.
Best regards,
Alok.
Hi
I've been using VLC media player for many years. Recently, every dey or so my media files have been switching back to the Windows defaults; if I change it back to VLC (using Open with / Choose another app / Always use this app) it will work for a while, then switch back again. I haven't found anything in AVG Total Security that implicates it, but this started around the time I switched from my previous security product to AVG's. Can someone either tell me how to stop AVG from doing this, or confirm that it isn't AVG? Thanks.

Hi Alok
That's a reasonable suggestion - except that when I say "it will work for a while", I mean for a day or two, which means I'd have to run uprotected for up to two days. I'm assuming something is looking specifically for file associations that have been changed from their defaults, and 'correcting' them; if AVG doesn't have a module that does such a thing then I doubt if AVG is the culprit - but modern security software has fingers in so many pies that it's difficult to tell what's being protected.
Does that lead us anywhere?
