Hello Oyvind,
We are sorry to know this.
May I know since when you are facing this issue please?
Did you make any recent changes to your computer?
Is there any other antivirus program installed on your computer?
May I know your operating system version please?
Also please confirm which version of AVG Internet Security program is installed on your computer?
You can try repairing your AVG program using this link: https://bit.ly/3jUU63F and then check for the issue.
Thank you and please keep us informed.
Hi. Today my AVG startet to act very strangely as it keeps turning off random defenses every few minutes, usually Behavior Shield and Password Protection and sometimes other things like Ransomware Protection. I fear that someone is hacking me or trying to. Both smart scans and full scans don't find anything wrong, so what's happening??

It seems a computer restart might have fixed the issue actually as it has stopped today.
But to answer your questions:
- This started to happen tonight at around 1:00 AM (UTC+01) and lasted until I turned off my computer at around 2:30 AM. Since it kept happening so "aggressively" every 1-5 minutes it felt like an attack. I have noticed Password Protection being turned off before some weeks ago, but that seems to have been a bug shared among several users according to the forums.
- My computer did install some updates yesterday which prompted a restart earlier in the day. That seems to have been a driver update for Razer Inc (my mouse). Other than that, no changes as far as I know.
- AVG is the only anti-virus program I have (other than Windows Defender, which I understand leaves things in AVGs hands).
- I have Windows 10 Home, version 20H2.
- AVG Version: 21.5.3185 (build 21.5.6354.679)
Anyway, the issue seems to be gone today, so maybe it just was some bug tonight. I'll keep an eye on it and come back if it starts happening again.
I'm glad to know that your issue got fixed, Oyvind.
