I regret for the inconvenience caused. You can add the file to AVG's exception list as a temporary fix. You can find instructions on how to add the exception in this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-make-exclusions-from-all-scans-and-shields . Please also submit a sample ( https://secure.avg.com/submit-sample ) of the exe file to our developers to analyze it.
I write my own programs and frequently have problems with AVG deleting my exe files.
I used to be able to deal with it but now find an amended file is always deleted by AVG even after setting protection to "off". (Deleted after reset.)
Any advice how to permanently stop this irritating problem, please?

It seems that you are trying this steps from AVG Zen interface. You can see AVG Internet Security tab in the AVG window you have opened, please click on the same and a new window of AVG Internet Security will open, click on the Menu option from this new window and follow the steps provided in the previous post. However, when I click AVG menu, I only have Device Settings.
