I have tried to undelete files. I know three specific files that are missing. My undelete tools can't find them. Normally it finds deleted files and gives a percentage task of recovery. In this case they are not even listed. Is this becuase it moves the files somewhere first and then deletes them or it securely deletes (I have not deliberatly shredded them). thanks
I have uploaded michael.jenkin@usa.net_01-05-2018_12h-23m.zip
Thank you for your patience Michael.
To analyze the issue further, I need to submit your concern to our senior technicians along with other diagnostic logs. I have sent you an email with steps on how to collect and upload the data required for analyzing your issue. Please check your inbox and spam/junk folder as well.
Hello Michael,
There are chances for the detected files to be deleted.
However, you can initiate the scan again to check the status.
If they are available in quarantine then it is possible to restore it.
If the required files are not present in the quarantine, then it is not possible to recover the deleted threat files.
In this case, you can install your developed tools/applications and add it to AVG's exclusion as mentioned (here).
This will prevent AVG scanning the particular file added to exception.
Feel free to contact us if you need further help.
Hello,
I just installed AVG free and ran a partial scan. When it finished it showed me a list of quarantined and deleted items (over 200). The problem is, I am a programmer and it detected some of my tools which I know are not viruses (the compiler I use has previously been misused by others). I was going to go through the list and see what I had to put back when AVG hung. After 30 minutes I had no choice but to reboot.
After reboot, I can't seem to find any logs to tell me what got deleted or quarantined. Looking in the quarantine there are some item's in there but not as many as were in the original list.
I can find some log files under C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\log but nothing really helpful stands out.
Any ideas?
I don't want to have to manually look to see what is missing as that would be a nightmare !

Thanks for your reply, however I am not after recovery from a quarantine. I need the list of actions performed. Is there a log file I can review so I know what files were tampered with ? The tools I need to add to exclsuion lists number in the hundreds and I can do that later. Is there a database, xml file or text file that contains the last results from a scan ? This was a fresh install and the report checkbox was not configured at the time of the file and folder scan.
Thank you for your valuable efforts, Michael.
