Deleting my account

Hello Kayla,

Let me explain this clearly. Yes, it seems to be scam. We don't charge our customers for cancelling the subscriptions and to remove data from our records.
You have been charged for renewal of AVG Internet Security Unlimited under your Gmail account. When you purchase an AVG subscription (formally known as "Continuing Protection Service"), the subscription will continue until you have cancelled it. You will receive an email regarding the automatic extension of AVG subscription before 45 days and will be billed 15 days before the product expires.
Would you like to get refund for this recent renewal?

Okay, Kayla.
Thank you for confirming.
We have initiated refund for this order. Once we finish our internal refund procedure, the transaction will be processed by the payment operator. You will receive additional confirmation in a separate e-mail from avg.cs@digitalriver.com.
If you have not received the separate email, please check your junk or spam mail filters.
Please take a note that the exact time the refunded amount will reach your account depends on payment operators, therefore we can no longer influence this process.
Generally, it should not take more than 7 business days.

So, this morning I wake up and see that I have a pending charge "Dri*avg Technologies. I haven't used or downloaded their products in quite some time. I called the number to cancel the payment / get a refund, and I get told that in order to do so I would also need to delete my account so that I would no longer get charged. Sounded fine, however, I would have to pay $70 some dollars in order to do so - and that is where I am lost. I asked if I could keep the account but just cancel the payment from going through since I am currently low on funds, I couldn't quite understand what the guy was saying due to his thick accent - but from what I gathered I was told no due to my account being really old. The guy pulled up a separate deal to make the payments (keep in mind I had given him access to my computer) so he was controlling the screen - a stupid thing on part I know. I attempted to end the connection but before I could he minimized it, and that is when I turned my computer off completely.

My question poses did I call the wrong number and almost get scammed, and if I can have my account deleted? Removing all my information from the systems, and not have to worry about being charged in the future? If I can please do so, my bank already knows of the situation so if anything happens they will be contacting me.
