Deleting system restore points during scan

Thanks for your response…so investigating your theory…When I took the above screen shot, which I created around noon yesterday, there was a "system" restore point present at the time (see today's screen shot).  However, at the time there was not a "manual" restore point…these had already been mysteriously deleted.  I did another manual restore point this morning as you suggested, then checked AVG and have attached that screenshot.  It looks to me like if you have a system restore point, AVG does not give you the option to delete it.  If you have a manual restore point, AVG DOES give you the option to delete it.  However, both situatiions are moot points, because my manual restore points were deleted "somehow" AND AVG is not set up to delete ANY restore points unless the box that you mention is checked.  I have never checked a box to give AVG the right to delete a restore point.  So, the initial question remains unanswered.  How did these restore points get deleted.  Thanks for your help. User-added image

Hello Hazel,

I understand the inconvenience.
It is not possible for AVG PC TuneUp disk defragmentation process to delete windows system restore points.
It should have been done during "System & Cache logs" files clean up process.
If you click on "Clean Up" tile on AVG PC TuneUp interface, you will have an option as "System & Cache logs".
If you click on it, the scan process will undergo and provide a list of check boxes.
One of the check box will have an option as "System restore points".
In your case, this option would have been checked and proceeded with the clean up process.
I request you to uncheck this particular option, to avoid PC Tuneup clearing restore points.
Feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.

I have been trying to determine where my system restore points go, and I've been blaming it on Windows - with a reason given that there is not adequate disk space to create a new restore point.  My issue has been that when I have lots of space AND no new restore point is being created, the restore points are still being deleted…often leaving me with no restore point at all!  I just ran across a discussion about this topic, and there was a reason given that some third-party disk defragmenters, such as Diskeeper could possibly be eating up restore points.  I have AVG PC Tuneup, I  am wondering whether anyone here has an idea why my restore points are deleted? I want to keep them until I'M ready to delete them.  I have set the disk space allotment for restore points to a maximum so they can't be deleted on that basis.  Thanks for your help.

Hazel,

The option "Backup copies of Windows" in the system cache and logs results is about the system restore points on your PC. Since it is not checked, AVG PC TuneUp is not deleting them. Please also make sure that AVG PC TuneUp is not running in Turbo mode where you will not be able to use some Windows tools such as system restore function.

I would request you to contact Microsoft for further assistance regarding this issue.

Thank you for providing the screenshot. As you do not have any system restore point created in your computer, it is not listing here. Please manually create a system restore point and check if you can see that option.

Alright. Thanks for your help

Thanks for your prompt reply, however I cannot locate a check box anywhere that says "system restore points".  Here is a screenshot of the boxes available when I click on System & Cache Logs.
