Hi Neil,

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Please let us know which AVG product is causing this issue.
Also, tell us how often this happens.

Looking through the forums this seems to be an ongoing complaint from over the last 5 years. Maybe you guys should listen to this feed back of a "feature" that people don't want. I will continue to use your product but I have seen cases of people changing their anti virus provider due to this.

As my colleague referenced, the shortcut icon created on your desktop, is the intended behavior of the program, thereafter a product update that involves a restart of your computer.

I know this will get removed before long I just hope YOU take notice. Your customers continually ask you for something and you ignore them year after year. Bet you're surprised when more people delete your product or refuse to upgrade. LISTEN TO PEOPLE COS FOR YEARS YOU HAVEN'T

Thank you for sharing your experience. Me, as well as my colleagues,  truly mean that, and I'm regretful you feel different about it. I can assure you that the situation you described was not how we hoped our responses would affect you.
Regardless of whether the feedback is positive or not, we always take it into consideration and use it to improve our service, thus creating a better overall experience for our customers. 

Rest assured that this matter was previously, as well as now, discussed with development, and while I understand how it bothers you, this is just how the program was designed.

Due to other priorities within each update, this is not something that will soon change, but it is communicated with the team for consideration of future updates.

Can you please stop forcing a desktop shortcut every time AVG updates. I intentionally don't have one on my desktop so I don't see why I would suddenly want one just because your program has updated

I have AVG Anti Virus Free, but whenever there is an update to the client, it creates a shortcut to the AVG client on my desk top which I do not want
