Despite AVG virus scan - still have pop up ads! WHY?

Carina, No AV product is capable of providing you with 100% protection although AVG are always working 24/7.

AVG would recommend to start with uninstalling all unknown/unused programs and browser addons.

Purchased Anti Virus 2015 after free trial.  Now each time I open a website, I keep getting pop up ads on side & bottom of my screen on any website I go to from "OptOn - HOT DEALS & RECENTLY PURCHASED" pics. I've never been to these sites. Did a whole computer scan, but ads continue to pop up. Why isn't this virus scan working?
