Thank you Karthikeyan, Unfortunately it appears that a virus has gotten in and, among other things disabled anti virus. The machine is now with a technician to repair.

My I.E Action Centre says AVG is turned off and I cannot turn it on via the centre, so is it functioning or not?. When I try defender I am denied due to a Group Protocol. Also in AVG ZEN I cannot open the protection tile although the circle appears complete
