Device Settings incorrect, and won't allow save changes

The product only calls itself "AVG", even on the help screen.  It is the free version of the virus scanner.  Nowhere in the menus, "About" page, or UI, does it call itself "AVG Protection", so I chose "Other products".

A few days ago, the software updated itself to a new version of the GUI.  The program keeps popping up warning boxes and scanning and finding no problem, every time I try to use development tools like compilers, and utilities.  So I went to look in the configuration.

The software identified my computer as a Laptop, which it is most definitely not.  I tried to change to "Desktop PC" (Menu -> Device Settings -> Device Type: Desktop -> Save Changes turns green/enabled, but clicking Save Changes gives no indication of save nor the expected behavior of "save and close dialog".  Reopening the Device Settings multiple times, it still says "Laptop".  After a few tries with no success, I began searching for this forum and typing this message.  having changed nothing, the software is now identifying as "Desktop".

You need to work on basic GUI topic from "UX 101" like "put the application name in prominent locations alongside company name and logo, for brand as well as product recognition, including but not limited to the main GUI dialog, as well as the About dialog", and "when a Saved button is clicked, settings should be saved, something should happen to indicate to the user that settings have been saved, such as printing a message in the dialog box stating that settings were successfully saved, or simply closing the dialog upon successful save, and only holding the dialog open if there was an error saving, along with the specific nature of the error."

Really, a random user should not have to be instructing a company of your size on basic design principles that have been common sense for the better part of 50 years, and you shouldn't be releasing products or attempting to do anything complex or serious like virus scanning, if you haven't got a grasp of common sense and basic first principles.
